Edinburgh based independent studio Blazing Griffin‘s Distant Star won the Game of 2015 at the Scottish BAFTAs on Sunday (15/11/15).
Supported by the previous Prototype Fund to develop the IP, the company has gone from strength to strength since the first application to the previous Fund, growing from a small start up of 6 people to a more established studio of 17.
Speaking of the support the Fund and the Fund team has provided to the Distant Star IP and the company as a whole, Peter van der Watt (CEO) said,
“The support the Prototype Fund provided us with was essential. As a small business in a tough industry, having the flexibility to support a prototype was incredibly helpful. It allowed us to look at ideas that we might not have been able to explore and then take a working prototype to showcase our project to investors. Hadn’t it been for this support, it would have been much more difficult to get Distant Star to market and achieve the results we have. ”
