The Prototype Fund re-opened for new applications from independent UK-based games companies earlier this year, receiving strong interest from developers across the country. Larger grants and a clear applicant focus on audience development have contributed to a consistently stronger field of candidates.

“As part of the UK Government’s Growth for Games strategy, we were pleased to confirm that the UK Games Fund will receive an additional £28.5 million over the next three years to continue supporting the UK’s independent games sector. Following the reopening of applications for the Prototype Fund, we received a strong response from highly talented teams developing ambitious and innovative projects.”
The largest cohort of funded companies since the UK Games Fund launched in 2015 has been announced today. These companies are developing original intellectual property, progressing new projects, creating opportunities for skilled employment, and strengthening their potential to secure further investment.
