From graduate start up studio to award winning indie darling success story, Newfangled Games is working on the much anticipated follow up to their runaway hit Paper Trail.

Newfangled Games’ Henry Hoffman has been on quite the journey with the team at UKGTF. Back in 2010 Henry crossed our path for the first time when he led the winning team Angry Mango in Dare to be Digital, the predecessor project to Tranzfuser. It was this win that kickstarted Henry’s entrepreneurial journey, leading to a BAFTA award win, publisher support from Microsoft and market success for the student-made game – Mush.
After the success of Angry Mango, Henry joined forces with another talented young entrepreneur in establishing Mudvark, a studio that saw IP acquisition for their million+ downloaded own-IP project. Inspired by hitting so many entrepreneurial milestones so early on in his career, Henry went on to establish Fiddlesticks – the studio behind the hit title Hue.
It was soon after Fiddlesticks was acquired by Curve Games that self-proclaimed “Jack of all trades” Henry embarked on the Newfangled Games journey.
Setting up business with his brother, Frederick, Newfangled Games is here for the long-term; as a sustainable business producing high quality, innovative own-IP projects that build on the successes and experiences of the studio’s founders. Their first title, Paper Trail, has received numerous industry accolades as well as continued commercial success. The studio secured a lucrative licensing deal with Netflix Games, bringing Paper Trail to an audience of billions of puzzle game enthusiasts across the world.
For their next game, with the support of the Content Fund, the studio is in stealth mode working on the vertical slice to send to interested investors on the back of highly promising conversations at recent industry events.
“The Content Fund has helped us scale up our dev team for our next title, one that we hope will build on the success of Paper Trail. Getting the playable demo in the best state it can be requires intense art resources and the Content Fund has allowed us to do that. The value of the support has been immense.” Henry Hoffman, CEO at Newfangled Games
