Applications from Wales-based indie game dev studios now open for content fund grants £50,000 – £150,000 from Creative Wales with support of the Welsh Government.
In partnership with UK Games Talent and Finance CIC (UKGTF), Creative Wales are now taking applications from independent games development studios registered in Wales with a prototype already in place.
The Games Scale Up Fund for Wales is designed to meet the needs of the Welsh games industry by providing additional funding for growth, talent, and skills development.
The Fund will support experienced developers with an own-IP project in place in leveraging further funding and support for the commercial release of the game.
In addition to supporting growth in the Welsh games development ecosystem, the Welsh Government is committed to promoting and growing the Welsh language. The creative industries play a key role in contributing to the Welsh Government’s priorities for the Welsh language and the target of a million Welsh speakers by 2050 as set out in Cymraeg 2050.
The Games Scale Up Fund for Wales does not require that projects be delivered bilingually but applicants must demonstrate how the Welsh language will be included in the business.
Paul Durrant, CEO and Founder at UKGTF, said:
“We are delighted to support Creative Wales with their Scale-Up fund strategy. Our prior experience with the UK Content Fund can be used effectively here and has been modified to build on that learning in support of the Creative Wales Scale-Up Fund.”
