A summary of a raft of announcements from the UK Games Fund portfolio of funded companies, as UK indie studios continue to impress and succeed.
Bitmap Bureau were funded in 2017 and have been very busy since working on various projects. Two of their projects were picked up by UK-based publisher, Reef Interactive (part of Reef Creative Group).
Reef Creative Group recently acquired a 70% stake in Bitmap Bureau. Reef Entertainment, a subsidiary of the Reef Creative Group, will work as an operative team providing support for future Bitmap Bureau titles.
Brightrock Games were funded in the very early days of UKGF and have been diligently working on their business and funded game, Galacticaire – a sci-fi hospital management simulator. In partnership with publisher CULT Games, Brightrock announced the launch of Galacticaire earlier this week with the official launch scheduled for later this month.
Laireon Games were funded in 2020 for their game, Aiyana. The procedurally generated open world survival craft game with traditional RPG mechanics is now available on Steam.
More recently, Bad Reaction Games were funded last year for their game It’s Grim Up North. The point and click game sees a quaint English village being invaded by shape-shifting aliens and launched on Steam last month.
The community of funded companies have more announcements in the pipeline with launch dates, crowdfunding campaigns, studio growth and new IP all set to be announced. Another portfolio round-up will be shared in a few weeks!
