A call for expressions of interest in the UK Games Fund’s fifth funding round has been announced today.
Since launching in 2015, the £5 million UK Games Fund (UKGF) has supported over 70 development studios from across the UK to develop their own video games IP.
The call comes as last week’s report from the ERA highlighted that video games are now worth more to the UK economy than music and film combined.
Round 5 differs from previous rounds as it is targeted at applicants with early-stage projects, with an initial support package valued at £10,000 (including £5,000 of grant funding) to refine and improve pitching skills, whilst also developing a playable demo for showcasing at a major consumer games show in the Autumn. Participation in the Autumn show provides applicants with the opportunity to gain all-important feedback from the public and industry.
Paul Durrant, Head of the UKGF, said:
“The success of our recent Pitch Development Programme has influenced the way we’re approaching Round 5; we know from very recent experience that early-stage projects can – and do – benefit greatly from enrolment on a community-based programme with milestones, funding support and pitching. ”
Interested parties are invited to complete an Expression of Interest form. The deadline for submission is Monday 28th January, 12 noon. Webinars and other information sessions will be provided for those who register. Find out more about the current round of funding and how to apply here.
