The UK Games Fund has been inundated with applications to the launch round of funding with over 100 submissions from the UK games development community.
Despite being less than a month old the UK Games Fund has been hugely popular amongst the growing UK games development sector with demand far exceeding expectations. Having run the previous UK video games Prototype Fund, CEO Paul Durrant has been hugely encouraged by the present level of creative activity across the UK.
“We knew from our previous work in this area that there was significant pent-up demand. That’s been borne out by this tremendous response from the sector. Our applicants have had to move quickly to take advantage of this opportunity and we thank them for responding in this way. We’ve also been encouraged by the volume of those who want to be involved in the support of the UK Games Finance and Talent CIC’s talent development initiatives.
The UK Games Fund is our first core project but we will also be focusing on supporting the burgeoning UK games development talent. We plan to make an announcement in the new year about the UK Games Talent project. We look forward to inviting all those who’ve so far expressed an interest to be involved.”
The UK Games Fund team aim to notify successful applicants to the launch round w/c 21st December 2015 with Offer Letters being issued early January 2016. Commencement approvals will be issued as soon as possible according to individual circumstances.
