Paw Print Games, one of our portfolio companies from our launch round of funding, has recently secured investment from nDreams Ltd.
Paw Print Games’ forthcoming VR game will be the first externally developed title that nDreams will bring to market as a 3rd-party publishing partner. In their role of publishing partner, nDreams will be providing Paw Print Games with marketing, PR and sales support, as well sharing their industry-leading VR development expertise.
The support from UK Games Fund has been invaluable to Paw Print in securing the deal with nDreams.
“It is always extremely hard for smaller studios to find funding for their project ideas”
explains Steven Craft, Director and Co-Founder of Paw Print Games
“The UK Games Fund became available at a perfect time; it allowed us to make a compelling prototype and ultimately secure a deal with nDreams, one of the most interesting VR publishing partners in the UK. I can confidently say this would not have happened without the UK Games Fund.”
Of the 234 submissions to the most recent call for applications, around 15% listed projects targeting VR headsets.
“Paw Print’s success has validated the need for us considering support for some of the VR-related pitches we’ve received. Paw Print’s clear vision for this helped secure support from us. We think the best projects will be those, like this one, where there was a VR ambition from day one.”
Paul Durrant (UK Games Fund CEO)
Applications to the Fund are assessed on a number of criteria, one of which is innovation. We’ll only select the best projects to support and so are not influenced by fashionable platforms; we advise would-be applicants to take note. However, we are excited to see how this VR trend develops over the life of the Fund.
