Home\ News\ Calls for applications to the UK Games Fund

Opportunity for independent SME game developers, based in the UK, to apply for grant support of up to £25,000 for the development of own-IP digital interactive content.

Now with close to 200 funded projects within the portfolio, eligible applicants to the ninth round of the UK Games Fund will have the opportunity to apply for grants of up to £25,000 from next week. The application process will consist of a written form alongside a maximum 2 minute video pitch requirement, mirroring past rounds in format of submission.

The deadline for applications will be Thursday 23rd June.

Round 9 applicants are required to have had previous professional game development experience and must have previously released a project to market. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to join online video interviews in August, with funded work being able to begin from September.

Speaking of opening the latest round of applications, UK Games Fund’s Paul Durrant said:

“With our previous funding rounds heavily oversubscribed it’s great to be opening for applications once again. We’re at an advantage now that we’ve funded so many companies in that we are getting better at spotting indicators of potential success. For that reason we’re continuing with our approach that requires some prior release experience. We find that teams that have made some early attempts at completion and release are better able to underline their pitch with evidence.”

A recent announcement about newly funded companies demonstrates the breadth and innovation of the types of projects that we support.

Applicants will be advised to carefully follow the guidance as will be shared next week.
