Portfolio companies from Rounds 7 and 8 recently shared news of games launching, crowdfunding campaigns getting underway as well as long term sustainable growth in studio size.

As we edge closer to large scale consumer-facing games shows (GamesCom and EGX being notable additions to the calendar), we recently caught up with our portfolio companies form Rounds 7 and 8.

Earlier this summer, Cinder Cone released Skeleton Crew in partnership with Modern Wolf. We also saw Superstring launch Acolyte, a dynamic narrative ARG/detective game that gives you your own Acolyte; a digital assistant you can talk to freely without pre-defined dialogue options. Just like a real conversation.

A new Kickstarter campaign from Round 7 company Team Dissonant was launched to support the development three new co-op mystery stories in the game.

Speaking of the impact on the company of support from the UK Games Fund, Yoyu Li from Team Dissonant said:

“When we were awarded support from the UK Games Fund, we just had our first-playable demo. In a few months’ time, we managed to release the demo at Steam Next Fest and went on to launch our Kickstarter campaign. The funding gave us the critical time we need to build and polish the game. We are on the trajectory to becoming a self-sustainable game studio.”

There are many more stories from the community of promising deals on the table, investment and sustainable growth as the studios continue to thrive. More news to follow.
